Monogrammed Art From A Thrift Store Tray

I found this old mirrored tray at the thrift store and decided to turn it into a monogrammed art piece for over my bed.  It was very plain, painted bright white, and kind of boring. And I was looking for something to hang over my bed in my master where I just repainted and thought it would be nice to have something personal instead of a generic piece of art.

The first thing I had to do is tone down that white paint so I took some dark gray paint and a dry brush and just streaked some of the paint over the white to give it an aged look.  Now it looked more like an old piece of barn wood.  Next I cleaned up the glass and got ready to make my monogram on the Cricut.

I won’t get into how I made the monogram on the Cricut except to say that I found a font I liked, arranged the letters for the effect I wanted and the size I needed and printed it out on a piece of black vinyl.  Then using transfer paper I attached it to the glass.

Then I added a picture hanging hook on the back and hung it over my bed.

So easy and the whole thing cost me maybe $4.00
